Mark Nash is hired as Producing Artistic Director
Vermont Stage opens FlynnSpace with the world premiere of Midwives (winner of Bessie Award for Best Play*).
Vermont Stage begins to rent out FlynnSpace for its entire season, becoming the resident professional theatre at the Flynn Center.

1st season in FlynnSpace included:

1999-2000
Mad River Rising by Dana Yeaton tours statewide as part of Vermont Stage’s Barnstorming Tour. 
Molly Sweeney by Brian Friel at UVM's Royall Tyler Theatre.

Blake Robison retires from position as Artistic Director after six years. 


1998-1999
Mad River Rising* by Dana Yeaton was produced by Vermont Stage at at University of Vermont's Royall Tyler Theatre. It went on to win a Bessie Award for Best Play** and a Moss Hart Award for Best Professional Production in New England.

We also produced The Tempest on the Flynn Center mainstage with Burlington’s Taiko Drummers, The Last Station and The Gift of the Magi (reprise) at UVM's Royall Tyler Theatre.



1997-1998
Vermont Stage produced A Midsummer Night’s Dream
and The Gift of the Magi at the Royall Tyler Theatre at University of Vermont and Amadeus on the Flynn Mainstage with the Vermont Mozart Festival. 

1996-1997
Vermont Stage became a resident theatre company at University of Vermont and brought Shakespeare back to the Royall Tyler Theatre with Much Ado About Nothing (Bessie Winner - Best Play**),  Othello, and Sleuth.

Mark Nash joins the company as an actor and teacher.



1995-1996
Dana Yeaton and Vermont Stage create the Vermont Stage Young Playwrights Project.

We also produced Someone Who'll Watch Over Me at UVM's Royall Tyler theatre.



1994
Vermont Stage’s Inaugural Production - Founding Artistic Director Blake Robison produces The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. Performed at Champlain College's Hauke Auditorium.

** The Bessie Awards were presented every other year by Burlington City Arts in recognition of Excellence in Theatre and Film. Vermont Stage is the only theatre company in Vermont to have won three Bessie Awards for Best Play
