directed by Jordan Gullikson, Nick Caycedo, and Jon van Luling

produced June 13-18, 2017

Tuesday-Saturday at 7:30pm
Sunday Matinee at 2pm
Take one play, break it in three parts, add three directors and three casts, and—voilà!—you've got the 6th annual directing "bake off," an engaging exploration of the “ingredients" different directors can use to create the same play. Each performance is followed by a Q&A with the directors and audience.

This year that play is --

He's a serious lawyer. She's a free-spirited woman ready for fun. After a
six-day honeymoon, Paul and Corie find themselves grappling with the
realities of married life in a small, fifth-story New York apartment. Their

ever-present mother.

Reviews

"The directors and actors have to fend for themselves in recreating, say, a train and a plane crash. Even a door. In other words, expect almost no tech from the VSC’s tripartite staging, but a ton of creativity. And therein lies even more fun, as much for the directors and actors as for the audience." - Seven Days
"It might be a conceit that entertains audiences with structural sleight-of-hand more than it illuminates them, but the production — and especially the question-and-answer session with the triumvirate of directors following the presentation — does offer a few insights into the mind of a director." - Burlington Free Press
“'The Bake Off' divides a popular play into three parts, each presented by a different director and cast. This year, the play was Christopher Durang’s wacky comedy, “Beyond Therapy,” and the cast changes Tuesday were made mid-scene — seamlessly and hilariously."
- The Rutland Herald
