Roya Millard
Originally from NYC, Roya fell deeply in love with the performing arts thanks to his parents taking him to opera, ballet, and theater at a ridiculously young age. He began specializing in lighting design in high school and earned a B.A. in theatre from Smith College in 2002. He has done lighting work in NYC, Boston, and Chicago before moving to Vermont in 2013. Since then, he has designed for 17 shows with various theaters around the state; favorites include The Bold The Young and the Murdered (GNO at Main Street Landing), Heathers: The Musical (Stowe Theatre Guild), The Haunting of Hill House (LCP at Hyde Park Opera House), and most recently A Chorus Line (Lyric at The Flynn). This marks his fourth show with Vermont Stage but his first as a member of the design team; previous credits are as an actor in The Pitmen Painters, The Bake Off of God of Carnage, and The Bake Off of Barefoot in the Park. He is able to do all of these things thanks to the support of his amazing wife, Becky.
