Laura Roald
Laura Roald is a Canadian theatre artist whose work has appeared on stages across North America for the past thirty years. Recent credits for Vermont Stage: Airness (Director), True West (Bake Off, “Lee” in Section One), God of Carnage (Bake Off, Director of Section Two) Recent credits elsewhere include: Nevermore: The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe (Polaris Performance Company - Director and Production Designer), The Gingerbread Scamp (Complications Company - Director/Dramaturg and Production Designer), Twelfth Night (Musical by Shaina Taub, Polaris Performance Company - Director), The Thanksgiving Play (Polaris Performance Company - Director and Lighting Designer), Unburn Me (Polaris Performance Company - Director/Dramaturg and Set Designer), The Suffragist’s Reenactment Society (Complications Company Vermont Tour - Director/Dramaturg and Production Designer), Bronte (NVU Johnson - Director), Macbeth (NVU Johnson - Director), Nine (NVU Johnson - Director), Making Babies and Other Complications (Complications Company - Director/Dramaturg and Production Designer), and After Mrs Rochester (Alumnae Theatre - Director). Upcoming projects include workshopping her full-length play “Exhume” and a new holiday season panto with Complications Company this coming December. She co-founded and is artistic co-director of Complications Company, a new work development company in Burlington. She has taught acting, directing, design and playwriting at Vermont State University since 2018. Laura holds an MFA in Directing from the University of Alberta, serves on the board of Off Center for the Dramatic Arts in Burlington, and is a member of Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas.
