PICK YOUR PRICE TICKETS

"Pick Your Price" tickets are geared towards making our plays more accessible to all.

When purchasing a ticket, you'll be given three different price options. Please choose the ticket price that makes the most sense for you
– based on what you can afford and how you'd like to show your support.

ENCORE PRICE - $54
When you buy this ticket, you help underwrite our shows by paying closer to the actual price it costs per seat to produce our plays. You also help increase access for other community members so they can attend our shows, too.

BRAVO PRICE - $44
This represents our standard price for a ticket and this is what we recommend you buy if you've been to our shows before.

APPLAUSE PRICE - $34
This is our entry level price for patrons who want to try attending a show for the first time. It's also for those who feel that the other prices are outside their budget this year.

We've also eliminated transaction fees, so you can purchase online, over the phone, or in person without an extra charge.
Over the years, we've noticed our pricing hasn't worked for everyone. Some patrons can comfortably afford our tickets while others have found our pricing a challenge. So, we've decided to take action!  We're trying a new ticket model, called "Pick Your Price" which aims to increase access so more folks can come to our shows and experience live theatre. Thanks for giving this new idea a try!

WHICH TICKET SHOULD I BUY?
We encourage you to purchase the "Bravo Price” ticket which starts at $44 and is typically what we charge for our shows. If you are able, we hope you'll consider purchasing an “Encore Price” ticket which starts at $54. You'll be creating opportunities for more patrons to attend, while supporting the artists and staff who make Vermont Stage possible.  If neither of these options work for you, no problem! We've created an "Applause Price” ticket which starts at $34. We're so grateful to have you attend a Vermont Stage show!

WHY SHOULD I BUY AN ENCORE PRICE TICKET?
It costs a lot more to produce our plays than what we charge at the box office. In fact, if we were to charge our actual costs to attend, we'd need to charge each audience member $84 per seat!  When you're an "Encore Price" Ticket Buyer, you're helping us recoup some of our costs. You're also supporting the attendance of patrons who may not be able to afford standard prices, providing an opportunity for more people to experience live theatre! Thanks for supporting our community, and our theatre, in this way!

INFORMATION COMING SOON.
ABOUT THE PLAY INSPIRING THIS YEAR’S “BAKE OFF”
Our Town (1938) is a three-act play written by American playwright Thornton Wilder. Wilder served in both World War I and World War II and wrote honestly about life in America. He wrote several plays but considered Our Town to be his best work. It was performed for the first time in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1938. Wilder received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Our Town, and the play is widely considered to be the quintessential American play. Countless adaptations have been staged or otherwise performed.

Our Town stands out among other plays because it is metatheatrical. It serves as Wilder’s statement on what he believed to be the disappointing direction that theater had taken. Wilder saw an increasing reliance on props and scenery that he believed obscured the raw themes and characters that theater traditionally offered. Audiences were no longer required to use their imaginations. Our Town is centered on the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, a town like any other, between 1901 and 1913. It brings to light themes of the simplicity of American life, appreciation of life while one has it, the importance of love and family, and the cyclical nature of humanity.
