“PRESENCE AT PLAY”
A SCENE STUDY ACTING CLASS

This scene study class gives you the time, tools, and freedom to explore acting in ways a typical rehearsal rarely allows. You’ll swap roles, try “slow throughs” (the opposite of speed throughs!), and even make the “wrong” choices on purpose — all in the name of discovery.

Guided by professional actor and teaching artist Quinn Rol, you’ll dive into scene work, games, and exercises designed to deepen presence, unlock authenticity, and, above all, keep the work fun.

Actor and educator Alex S. Hudson will also join the class periodically as a Guest Teacher, sharing her Creative Mindfulness practice — an inspiring complement to the acting work you’ll be doing.

In the final class, Cristina Alicea, Producing Artistic Director of Vermont Stage, will offer feedback from a directorial perspective, reflecting back the moments that resonate most and helping you understand the impact of your choices.

If you’ve ever wondered how to feel more spontaneous, grounded, and alive on stage, this is the place to start.

Quinn holds an MFA from Columbia University and brings over a decade of combined professional acting and teaching experience. He is the only Designated Linklater Voice Teacher in Vermont, works with the Flynn’s Poetry Out Loud program and the Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s Musicians in Schools program, and is active in Burlington’s theatre community as an actor, director, educator, and collaborator.
