Cristina Alicea (director)
During her tenure she has directed the world premiere of THE QUARRY by Greg Pierce (SLOWGIRL, THE LANDING), THE CLEAN HOUSE by Sarah Ruhl, BOOM by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, VENUS IN FUR by David Ives, VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE by Christopher Durang, and THE MOUNTAINTOP by Katori Hall. Prior to her arrival in Burlington, Cristina spent a year working as Assistant to the Managing Director at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. As a freelance director she has worked with The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Culture Project, Forum Theatre DC, The American Globe Theatre, the FringeNYC Festival, Theatre Rhinoceros, Next Stop Theatre, University of Vermont, and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Cristina is also the co-founder of MTWorks, a New York based theatre and served as its Executive Director for 5 seasons. With MTWorks she directed 5 world premieres, championing some of the earliest plays written by Johnna Adams (GIDION'S KNOT) and Jacqueline Goldfinger (SLIP/SHOT), and was the creator of their flagship program The National NewBorn Festival. Cristina was a finalist for a Denham fellowship given by the Society of Directors and Choreographers for emerging female directors and is a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab. Cristina has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from George Mason University.
